Week 17: First Baptism

Image
Haupei!  What a chalk full week it has been! Monday we spent our entire P-Day go to Campo Moroni which is essentially this enormous Stake Youth Camp type of thing that's run by the Church. The Zone Leaders knew the Senior Missionaries that run it so we spent the whole day there and it was a blast! The Paredes (The Senior Missionary couple) made us Chipa and Sopa and afterwards we played 7 on 7 Football until we all gave up because it was hotttt out. Then, while we were there a car outside on the main freeway flipped and ran into a tree outside of camp!!! Fortunately, they were ok haha but all the missionaries ran over and had to flip there car back up!! Our friends Juliana and Milagros got baptized this Thursday!!!! We prepared the font for about 2 and half hours (yes again cause it got dirty rip) and afterwards on Thursday we had there baptism and confirmation. I got to baptize Milagros and it was a touching and unforgettable expereience! Friday, I had divisions with our Zone Lead...

Week 16: Argentines Can't Really Sing...

Gollly! What a week! It has been over 100 days since I have been in the U.S, and so essentially I'm Latino now. NOT.  Anyways, all was nice and tranquilo'pa (relaxed) in the life of Elder  Ralphs  until Tuesday night, after about 2 hours of splits in Eusibo Ayala we got told that Elder Webb had a consejo de Liders the next morning in Asuncíon. Keep in mind its a 2 and a half hour drive and he got told at 6pm. Great work Zone Leaders. So, Elder Medina and I rushed back to Piribebuy. Then right when I got back, me and Elder Webb went to visit Juliana who was on date for baptism this Thursday (now next Thursday). We got sent the wrong address and after driving around for hours with a stud of a member H' Meza we finally taught her. (More on her story later eventually, hopefully) We got back at 8:30ish only to find out Elder Webb didn't have a ride out of Piribebuy to Asunsíon and so (after watching Paraguay beat Venzeula in the World Cup Qualifiers) we woke up at 3:30am and...

Week 15: Angelic Pizza And Secretary Barragan

Image
Heyya Yall's! Elder Ralphs here!!  Wonderful things are happening here in Piribebuy!  For starters, we have two friends who are getting baptized this upcoming Thursday (more on them next week) but what that meant was Friday we spent 2 and a half hours filling up the font by HAND cause the water at the church is broken. But we also got access to a speaker the church has and so we just listened to music and bucket by bucket filled up the font. And to end the night off, we thought we were out of money ( cause the mission for some reason just decided not to pay the missionaries yet haha) but I found a stash of cash I had pulled out from my card back home and we ordered litterally heavenly pizza! On top of that my comp has basically become the secretary of our branch so we spent a full hour and a half Friday helping our new branch president and counsler get church accounts which lead to some very funny conversations between a 19-20 year old Asian American from church headquarters i...

Week 14: Elder Winder And I Get Called Over By The Cops

Image
Weeks are flying byyy. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday were normal work days other then the fact that on all 3 of the days we had to wait for nearly 4 hours (2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back) for the collectivos! The buses just take a ridiclous amount of time and turns out Tuesday, was some obscure Paraguayan Holiday haha so we were just waiting for ages!  Thursday evening, the Elders from Eusibo Ayala came to stay the night since we were leaving early for zone conference the next day. They came earlier then we thought, so we ended up with a night with 4 Elders in Piribebuy. So, to my delight, Me and Elder Winder (remember him??) got to go out for a night to teach while Elder Medina and Elder Webb prepped flyers for some conference something.  That night, the very first thing that happened to me and Winder was that two police officers pulled up (just in some obscure dark Paraguayo wilderness) and told us to watch out for dangerous people in the area. whichhhh we th...
