Week 17: First Baptism

What a chalk full week it has been!

Monday we spent our entire P-Day go to Campo Moroni which is essentially this enormous Stake Youth Camp type of thing that's run by the Church. The Zone Leaders knew the Senior Missionaries that run it so we spent the whole day there and it was a blast! The Paredes (The Senior Missionary couple) made us Chipa and Sopa and afterwards we played 7 on 7 Football until we all gave up because it was hotttt out. Then, while we were there a car outside on the main freeway flipped and ran into a tree outside of camp!!! Fortunately, they were ok haha but all the missionaries ran over and had to flip there car back up!!

Our friends Juliana and Milagros got baptized this Thursday!!!! We prepared the font for about 2 and half hours (yes again cause it got dirty rip) and afterwards on Thursday we had there baptism and confirmation. I got to baptize Milagros and it was a touching and unforgettable expereience!

Friday, I had divisions with our Zone Leader, 20 month in, 23 year old missionary, Elder Bauman. He's from Thatcher haha and is an absolute stud. I had to lead here in Piribebuy (which was slightly terrifying ngl haha) but it was a day of miracles. First we talked too Derlis (yeah that same Derlis from ages ago) because we felt impressed to go visit him and he let us in and he expressed desires to still work towards baptism! Then, as he was going to get his Book of Mormon he had a seizure, passed out, and fell, busting open his chin pretty bad on the cement. We ran over when we saw what happened and E'Bauman and Derlis's  had to carry him with DerlisWe had one man, Nestor, who we have known for a while now that while we were talking to him stopped us and asked "I have one question, a favor more, hmm how do I say this, can I have one of your Bibles??" Yes, Yes Nestor you can. 

Favorite thought from this week is from the beginning of Helaman this week. Helaman 3:29-30 "Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked— 30 And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls, at the right hand of God in the kingdom of heaven, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and with Jacob, and with all our holy fathers, to go no more out."  I have always loved this thought that as we tske hold of the word of God. Use it not as a theoretical or just philosophical advice that satisfies and answers the long term questions, but let it be the real time answer to your realtime questions. Jared Halverson teaches it is less about if the Book of Mormon is true, but more about if thr Book of Mormon works. Let it work!!! 

All in all this week I have never felt more blessed by the gift of tounges! Keep the prayers coming because I am barreling towards the end of my training and it's sounding like I am going to stay and lead in Piribebuy! oh gol. Let's go 8-0 Cougs!

Haupei!! Wow what a couple of Days it has been, since I wrote home just this Wednesday I will do my best to keep this email short but my oh my have things been moving since then. We left Thursday Night at 9pm for Paraguay. It was´nt an awful flight since I had an open middle seat next to me and I was a window.. so I sprawled out and got some sleep.  We landed in the Morning in Paraguay and were meeted by President and the Secretary of the Mission. They made sure everything went smoothly getting into the country and we were driving and at the Mission office by 9a Friday. We all took naps at some bedrooms they had upstairs at the Mission Office and then we came down at 11:30 ish for our orientation. We also got to meet our comps for the first time and holy cow is Elder Webb (or Pa Teo as I call him (since he is my father/trainer out her on the mish)) is an absolute legend even after only living with him for two days I have grown to love and appreciate the man. Well You Guys Are In Trouble...

What a final week it has been! We were planning on leaving Tuesday but thanks to a late transfer or a plane thing or whatever we got on final P-Day at the CCM. This week has been all out Spanish and Doctrinal sprint. The spirit has been strong and our district is so unfied. It will be really hard and already has been hard to say goodbye to Elder Vainoka, who left at 3 am Tuesday Morning. It was awesome because we all woke up for him and did the Hakka he taught us as a goodbye. It was a special moment.. 3 am 5 americans, a south afircan and a tongan just casually doing the Hakka at 3 in the morning! (Someone videoed it and I put it in the Google Photos)  Bishop Caussé the Presiding Bishop of the Church came thus week!! He did a devotional with us on Monday afternoon. It was an absolutely fire devotional and the atmosphere of the small packed room, with somewhere between 50 to100 missonaries and mission leaders, was so powerful. Shouldn’t Have Drank That Water

Haupei Yall's! It's weird were already talking transfers this next week!  Not much to much to report this week but heres a few snidbits: --> Tranfers are next week!! I will stay in Piribebuy, but there are alot of rumors going around that Elder Webb my comp is going to be a ZL so stay tuned this next couple of weeks cause things could be changing! --> My comp got really sick Monday Night from drinking the water. Basically, the water here can give you parasites and tapeworm and all that nasty stuff so we were at the Pension all day Tuesday and Wednesday. Which was awesome for me to do somethings I have not gotten to do since I got here and I gotta study ALOT, even watched President Nelsons Birthday Celebration thingy which I thought was an awesome change of pace!! --> Sunday was amazing!
