Week 14: Elder Winder And I Get Called Over By The Cops
Weeks are flying byyy.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday were normal work days other then the fact that on all 3 of the days we had to wait for nearly 4 hours (2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back) for the collectivos! The buses just take a ridiclous amount of time and turns out Tuesday, was some obscure Paraguayan Holiday haha so we were just waiting for ages!
Thursday evening, the Elders from Eusibo Ayala came to stay the night since we were leaving early for zone conference the next day. They came earlier then we thought, so we ended up with a night with 4 Elders in Piribebuy. So, to my delight, Me and Elder Winder (remember him??) got to go out for a night to teach while Elder Medina and Elder Webb prepped flyers for some conference something.
That night, the very first thing that happened to me and Winder was that two police officers pulled up (just in some obscure dark Paraguayo wilderness) and told us to watch out for dangerous people in the area. whichhhh we think is just them warning us since were two white americans who can't speak spanish yet walking alone down dark roads but it added a certain level of adventure to the entire night which I loved. Plus, the Lord's protecting us! And it ended up being an awesome night! We taught two lessons and contacted and to be honest it was terrifying cause we can't speak a lick of spanish sometimes but it was really fun.
After a less then comfortable night in tight sleeping quarters (again kudos to Winder for sleeping without a pillow RIP) but an overall fun "sleep-over" we drove into Asuncíon for ZC. Notably, we spent the first half hour drawing a bowl of fruit and proceeded to talk about perspective and talents, which I guess had something to do with the fruit, but no one was really sure by the end.
ALRIGHT CAN WE TALK ABOUT A QUEEN CREEK, ARIZONA TEMPLE! I did not see it coming but wowieee what a blessing!! Conference in general was such a marvelous spiritual experience. Between one of the sessions, it was raining and it was a warm rain too and so I sat on the steps of our little chapel and really got to ponder. It was a powerful moment of peace and power.
One message I felt resounded through this conference was the power and the strength of the gospel. That the way to access this power, this strength is through the covenants we make in the temple and every week in church.Take the time to really spirtually prepare for the sacrament this week. Make it a "Church of Joy" as we access this power. As our Prophet directed NOW is the time to rededicate yourself to the Lord and I can promise that a very real way we can do that is from intentional prepration for sacrament worship.
God is real. Christ lives. Come and don't delay!
