Week 20: Marriage Counseling, Stake Conference, And Waterfalls
And to think it has only been 4 days since my last email.
--> To start off I had the craziest/most powerful lesson of my mission this last week. Essentially, we were at one of our friends Mirta's house and we have had 2 or 3 lessons and we get there and she tells us she has a desire to be baptized. And we are like wow that's awesome Mirtpa we would love to help you with that. Then she's like oh but don't I have to be married. And we were like well dang, why are you guys not married yet? And then she told us it was because one my would be husband does'nt want to, and my two sons would never be ok with him being their dad. And then I was like "alright can we talk with the sons?" And next thing you know all 4 of them are sitting together. And I go alright, one by one, are you ok if Mirta marries Santiago... and what it got down to (all this in one lesson btw) was Mirta would marry Santiago if Juan stopped taking drugs. And Juan would stop taking drugs if Mirta married Juan. "Elderes, you don't know my son" and I turned to her and said "Well I know Jesus Christ, he can change." And she said ok, we can try. So prayers for them and there family.
--> We had Stake Conference this week and in the morning we went to our friends Heribiertos and long story short, Stringam and I drove with the Gonzalez family and with some awful directions and a bit of crazy driving we got there. Heriberto and his family have there wedding planned for Friday Morning, a celebration Friday Night, and there Baptisms Sunday after church!!
--> Ruth is progressing a lot too! We are going to teach her today and tommorow and then her baptism is for this Wednesday!!
--> So PRAY for us cause we have so much work to do haha.
--> Today we also got to go visit Saltos de Monday (pronounced Mundauh) and I have never felt more like I was in South America. Like Welcome to Paradise Falls moment.
3rd Nephi 11. For missionaries it is THE Book of Mormon chapter. It is a powerful demonstration of who Christ is as he appears to a broken brusied family. I would invite ALL of you to read it. FIND the Savior in those verses. If a Paraguayo can do it so can you
¨Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world." (3rd Nephi 11:14)
I know Miracles are real. I know the gift og Tounges is real. I know Jesus Christ you can change.
